SUIBOKUGA / SUMI-E
- The Art of Japanese Ink Painting -

Hi and Welcome

My name is Yumiko Kigoshi. I have been studying Suibokuga for more than 20 years and it is not only my passion, some would say......my obsession.

Suibokuga or Sumi-e painting has its origins in ancient China, but has been practiced in Japan since the eighth century. By the fourteenth century it had been adopted as one of the Zen arts.

Using only black ink and infinite shades of grey, the artwork captures the essence of its subject in simple expressionistic forms.

I invite you to view my Gallery, Video and Facebook page and welcome any questions via my Contact page.

Thank you,

Yumiko
