Hi, my name is Yumiko Kigoshi and I've been studying Suibokuga for over 10 years and it would be fair to say it's my passion, but to some of my friends.......more like my obsession.
Siubokuga or Sumi-e painting has its origins in ancient China, but has been practiced in Japan since the eighth century. By the fourteenth century it had been adopted as one of the Zen arts.
Using only black ink and infinite shades of grey, the artwork captures the essence of it's subject in simple expressionistic forms.
