SUIBOKUGA - The Art of Japanese Ink Painting

Hi and Welcome

My name is Yumiko Kigoshi, I have been studying Suibokuga for more than 18 years and it is not only my passion, some would say......my obsession.

Siubokuga or Sumi-E painting has its origins in ancient China, but has been practiced in Japan since the eighth century. By the fourteenth century it had been adopted as one of the Zen arts.

Using only black ink and infinite shades of grey, the artwork captures the essence of it's subject in simple expressionistic forms.

I invite you to to view my Gallery and Video and welcome any questions via my Contact page.

Thank you,
Yumiko
